I have come to my doctoral interests in a roundabout manner. I have a BA in History with a concentration in Environmental Studies from Grinnell College. I have an MA in Education from Chapman University. I have spent 10 years teaching history and biology in secondary schools in Arizona and New Mexico. The past year and a half I have been attending UNM completing coursework in preparation for my doctoral work.

My interests include all of the cockroach realm, but my research will focus on the systematics and behavior of Blaberid roaches. I am particularly fascinated by the parenting behaviors of this group. I am also interested in all aspects of microscopy, and scientific illustration and photography.

My goals are to teach biology at the college level, continue research into cockroach behavior, phylogeny, and evolution, and produce the first field guide to the world's roaches.
