I received my BS in Biology here at the University of New Mexico in May of 2009. I took a circuitous route dabbling in various majors before finally settling on a biology major. I focused my undergraduate degree in ecology but knew that I wanted to change directions in my graduate studies. I decided to study the systematics of beetles due to my interest in evolution and entomology.

My doctoral work is focused on the systematics of beetles in the family Noteridae. I'm starting with a basic revision of three genera, Pronoterus, Mesonoterus, and Siolius. I'd like to revise these genera looking at morphological characters as well as molecular data. It should be known that major work has not been done on many Noterid groups since their original descriptions in the late 1800s. Noterids were originally part of the family Dytiscidae but were later moved and have since been "orphaned."

I also have interests in studio art, drawing, painting, and scientific illustration. My ultimate goals are to teach college level biology along with conducting original research on evolution, phylogeny, and systematics of insects.
